Nine people were killed in a fire at a hospital in Taiwan.

According to Taiwanese media such as ET Today, a fire broke out at 7:40 a.m. on the 3rd at Donggang Antai Hospital in Pingtung, killing nine people, including eight seriously ill patients and an employee in a distribution room.

The fire was reportedly started when flames suddenly erupted with smoke in the distribution room.

Mr. Wang, an employee of a distribution room in his 50s, was found to have failed to escape while working on the initial evolution.

The employee did not have to be on duty on the day, but reportedly returned to the hospital and worked due to a lack of manpower due to the typhoon.

As the fire spread, the hospital urgently evacuated 320 inpatients.

The eight patients who died were seriously ill with mobility difficulties.

The fire was put out at about 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese media reported that the fire was the worst related to medical institutions since the fire at a hospital in Shinbei, where 15 people were killed in August 2018.
