Gyeongsang National University Hospital 'Project for Establishing an Open Laboratory for Convergence Medical Life' Interim Evaluation Meeting

Gyeongsang National University Hospital (Hospital Director Ahn Sung-ki) Medical Life Research Institute (Research Director Park Jung-je) announced on the 25th that it held an interim evaluation meeting on the 「2024 Convergence Medical Life Open Laboratory Construction Project」 at the Cara Hall of the Asia Lakeside Hotel in Jinju City.
The establishment of an 'open laboratory' is a hospital-centered open innovation platform project that enables stable business support and sustainable growth of start-up companies that are difficult to connect with hospitals through excellent medical staff and infrastructure.
Gyeongsang National University Hospital was selected as a public offering project organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in July 2021 and officially opened in October of the same year. After that, it carried out the task of 'Infectious Disease Specialized Open Laboratory' with the Korea Health Industry Promotion Agency until 2023.
Starting this year, it has expanded the business limited to the existing infectious disease field to all medical life fields and has been operating on its own with local subsidies from Gyeongsangnam-do and Jinju City (200 million won in Gyeongsangnam-do, 200 million won in Jinju, a total of 400 million won).
The interim evaluation meeting was attended by key officials, including Ahn Sung-ki, director of Gyeongsang National University Hospital, Park Jung-je, head of the Medical Life Research Institute, and Gyeongsangnam-do Future Industry Department, Jinju City's Corporate Trade Department, and Gyeongnam Techno Park, and was hosted by Kwak Seung-jin, head of the research and planning department.
Through this interim evaluation meeting, the commercialization, technology development, interim performance, and future plans of 12 companies participating in the project were reviewed in general and an in-depth evaluation was made.
Ahn Sung-ki, the head of the hospital, said, "(Gyeongsang National University Hospital will continue to make its best efforts to contribute greatly to the development of medical care and revitalization of the local economy in South Gyeongsang Province through the project to build an open laboratory for convergence medical care and to cooperate with the local community."."
