Oct 25, 2024
Hallim University Sacred Heart Hospital (Hospital Director Kim Hyung-soo) will hold a 'Docyst Kidney Disease Patient Class' at Ilsong Culture Hall on the 5th floor of the 2nd annex from 11 a.m. on November 2.
The class for patients with polycystic kidney disease was organized by Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital and the Korean Kidney Society to provide practical help to patients and their families suffering from polycystic kidney disease. Through this training, the Department of Nephrology at Hallim University Sacred Heart Hospital will inform the importance of managing kidney disease and help patients and caregivers manage the disease effectively.
Ahn Jung-nam, a professor of kidney medicine at Hallim University Sacred Heart Hospital, will deliver useful information related to the disease, such as ▲ introduction of polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) ▲ pre-onset of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) ▲ treatment and diet ▲ daily life kidney health care tips.
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a type of polycystic kidney disease, the most common hereditary kidney disease. It is known that if one of the parents has a genetic disease, it is inherited to the child at a 50% probability. The prevalence of ADPKD is estimated to be 1 per 1000 people, and with the development of multiple cysts in the kidneys, renal function gradually decreases, resulting in 50% being dialyzed before the age of 60.
Professor Ahn Jung-nam said "Multi-cyst kidney disease and ADPKD can delay deterioration of function if they actively manage kidney health from the beginning."As it is important to delay the timing of dialysis as much as possible in the event of an outbreak, we will try to provide various information to patients and caregivers to help them with treatment" he said.
Anyone can attend this patient class for free through pre-registration and give all participants a small souvenir.
