Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Hospital President Min Jeong-jun) presented a vision for a new leap forward on the 20th anniversary of its opening.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the opening, the Future Medical Innovation Center will be reborn as the center of Korea's next-generation vaccine and immunotherapy field through the Future Medical Innovation Center completed this year, and the establishment of a second national cancer center to leap forward and quantitative expansion of regional cancer treatment.
On the 25th, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital held a ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening and the completion ceremony of the Future Medical Innovation Center under the slogan of 「Hospital Meeting Tomorrow's Medicine Today」. Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, which opened on April 26, 2004, held a ceremony in time for the completion of the Future Medical Innovation Center due to prolonged legislative conflicts.
More than 300 foreign guests from all walks of life attended the event, including Chung Sung-taek, chairman of Chonnam National University Hospital and president of Chonnam National University, Chung Shin, head of Chonnam National University Hospital, Koo Bok-gyu, head of Hwasun County, and Yoon Ho-yeol, head of the Jeonnam Bio Promotion Agency.
Min Jeong-joon, Director of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, said in a commemorative speech, "Through innovative R&D and challenges and enthusiasm for top-notch medical services, we have established a new vision with the will to open up new horizons and fundamentally change human health and life."We will promote the construction of a second national cancer center to realize our new vision. It is essential to achieve both the breakthrough qualitative leap and quantitative expansion of regional cancer care" expressed his will.
"We will become a hospital that treats diseases and heals the mind in a beautiful natural environment, a hospital that opens the future of life with innovative technology, a hospital that contributes to the community, and the world's best cancer hospital," he said.
At the vision declaration ceremony, which followed the award of exemplary staff, the award of appreciation plaques, and the screening of the 20th anniversary of the opening, the new vision completed through the contest was unveiled through the performance of Lee Hwa-sun, a calligraphy artist.
As a second part of the event, the completion ceremony of the Future Medical Innovation Center was held. The Future Medical Innovation Center began construction as an open medical innovation center in June 2022, and was renamed the Future Medical Innovation Center through a recent public offering, which was first unveiled on the same day.
The Future Medical Innovation Center, which will be built as a space where various research institutes, start-up ventures, and mid-sized companies move in to actively conduct clinical trials of new technologies, has been built with three basement floors and six ground floors on a total floor area of 23,304㎡ (about 7,050 pyeong).
In particular, it plans to operate as a base for the national high-tech strategic industry bio-specialization complex in Hwasun-gun and as a center of Korea's next-generation vaccine and immunotherapy field.
