A creature that doesn't poop has been found.

According to Japanese media such as Gigi Press, a research team at Nagoya University's Graduate School published a study that tadpoles in 'Eyefinger Frog' do not produce feces.

The eye-finger frog lives mainly in Ishigaki Island, Iriomote Island, and Taiwan, Okinawa Prefecture.

The tadpoles grow in small pools in tree holes, where they are known to die when the concentration of ammonia, a toxic substance in the feces of ordinary animals, is high.

Accordingly, it is estimated that tadpoles do not excrete to safely protect their habitat, the researchers explained.

However, tadpoles are found to accumulate feces in the intestine before becoming frogs. After growing into a frog, the feces are excreted all at once.

Professor Yasukazu Okada of the research team said that even ants and honeybees do not have larvae that poop and keep their narrow nests clean, and that it is interesting that there are cases of frogs adapting to the environment in this way. The case of this study was published in the journal 『Ecology』.
