Korea-China Joint Seoul Tourism Short Web Drama Reaches 10 Million Views



From the 25th to the 27th of last month, the Seoul Tourism Foundation released a web drama promoting Seoul tourism through the Bizit Seoul Chinese SNS channel and became an idol manager!' announced on the 29th that it has exceeded 1.07 million cumulative views in a month. On October 27, Vigit Seoul Weibo recorded 8.31 million views and 1.76 million views of Douyin, respectively. The web drama was filmed in Seoul by Chinese actors and producers in a short-form format of about three minutes and was produced in a collaboration between Korea and China. It tells the story of a Chinese girl who loves K-pop coming to Seoul to watch an idol's performance and working as an idol's manager in her dream.

This web drama is the first case of producing a local tourism promotion video in the form of an ultra-short web drama not only among domestic tourism institutions but also among global tourism agencies. With interest and participation in web dramas, Bizit Seoul's Chinese SNS channel increased by 30,000 new followers in a month, and there were a total of 18,000 likes and comments, up 127% from the monthly average. After filming the drama, Chinese actor Cheonji Anyu posted a vlog on his Weibo account where he enjoyed a two-day trip to Seoul alone to share his unique experience with fans.

Lee Yun-hwa, head of the smart tourism team at the Seoul Tourism Foundation, said "It is necessary to actively promote Seoul premium brands and local experience-type tourism products to Chinese tourists in their 20s and 30s who have emerged as the main travel consumer."We will communicate through specialized SNS channels in China and expand new entertainment and special experiences in Seoul to increase the rate of revisiting."
