The Korean Liver Cancer Society published a white paper 'Past, Present, and Future of Korean Liver Cancer' that compiled the current status of liver cancer in Korea.

Liver cancer has the seventh highest incidence of cancer among all carcinomas in Korea, and is the second leading cause of cancer death and the first cancer mortality rate among Koreans in their 40s and 50s. The Korean Liver Cancer Society aims to inform the public about appropriate screening, accurate diagnosis, and best treatment for liver cancer, predict future changes, present a vision for overcoming liver cancer, and help establish health care policies in line with the situation in Korea.

For the completion of the white paper, the planning committee of the Korean Liver Cancer Society and top experts in Korea participated during the two-year production period, and the degree of completion was increased through supervision by senior professors and executives.

This white paper can be downloaded as a pdf file on the website of the Korean Liver Cancer Society 'Latest Medical Information'.

Meanwhile, the Korean Liver Cancer Society was founded in 1999 and celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. It is a multidisciplinary academic organization with experts from internal medicine, surgery, radiology, pathology, and radiation oncology for the purpose of improving liver cancer-related treatment and research, and currently has about 860 members.
