An airline employee miraculously survived even after being hit by a 78-ton Airbus A320 passenger plane.

According to Metro and other foreign media, Rail Kasanov (22), a maintenance worker for Urals Airlines working at Russia's Koltsovo Airport, had his legs laid on the wheels of the plane preparing to take off.

CCTV footage shows the plane's landing gear passing over the engineer's legs.

It was fortunate that the plane stopped moving.

The hip joint of his leg was amputated after being rushed to the hospital.

As for the situation at the time, he said "A huge airplane wheel passed along my legs and stopped. I didn't feel pain at first because of the shock, but later I felt a bone burst"I tried not to lose my mind for about seven minutes," he said.

"I was so thirsty because of the bleeding" he continued. "I managed to tell him what happened in the ambulance and immediately passed out."," he added.

Waking up five days after undergoing emergency surgery, he said "Looking around, it wasn't like heaven. I could tell I was in the ICU and my mother was next to my bed""I knew there was no hope in my legs even while I was under the plane." he said.

The investigation found that the pilot did not check the surroundings properly before moving to the runway.

The court asked the pilot to pay compensation of 16,000 pounds (about 29 million won) to Rail Kasanov as part of the pre-trial agreement.

Rail, which maintains its Urals employee status, will return to work after wearing a prosthetic leg. However, it is unlikely that it will be put into preparation for takeoff of the plane as before.
