Canada's former Olympic snowboard player has been publicly wanted for murder and drug distribution.

According to CNN and other foreign media, the FBI of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation publicly wanted Ryan James Wedding, 43, a Canadian resident in Mexico, and offered a reward of $50,000 (about 69 million won).

He remains charged with criminal enterprise operations, murder, conspiracy to distribute cocaine and other crimes in the United States.

A former Winter Olympics snowboarder turned out to be the head of an international drug ring.

U.S. investigators said the wedding group moved a large amount of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and California to Canada and other parts of the United States by long-distance trucks. Wedding, who also faces charges years ago in Canada, is one of 16 people charged in connection with an organization that carried 60 tons of cocaine a year, four of whom are still on the run.

FBI officials said 12 people were arrested in Florida, Michigan, Canada, Colombia and Mexico.

They are accused of killing two family members in Canada in retaliation for the stolen drug delivery.

Authorities said they seized cocaine, weapons, ammunition, cash and more than $3 million (about 4.13 billion won) worth of cryptocurrencies in connection with the investigation.

Meanwhile, Wedding represented Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
