Oct 07, 2024
Professor Bae In-seok of Neurosurgery at Nowon Eulji University Hospital (Director Yoo Tak-geun) won the Excellence Paper Award at the 2024 North American Spine Society (NASS) held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from September 24 to 28. Only the top 30 papers were selected out of 1,500 papers applied for this conference.
Professor Bae In-seok won the Excellence Paper Award for his study on the difference in cob angle between standing posture and supine posture as prognostic factors after spinal strengthening in osteoporosis compression fracture patients. Professor Bae said, "'Spinal strengthening is often used to treat osteoporosis compression fractures.'" As the study found that the greater the angle difference according to posture, the better the prognosis, it is expected that the treatment method suitable for the patient's condition can be provided in consideration of changes in the vertebral body in the future", he expressed his feelings.
Professor Bae In-seok, who obtained his master's and doctorate degrees from Hanyang University's medical school and graduate school, treats patients with various spinal diseases. As a full member of the Korean Society of Neurosurgery, the Korean Society of Vertebral Neurosurgery, the Korean Society of Minimal Invasive Spine, and the Korean Society of Neuroinjury, he continues to provide clinical treatment and active research activities.
Meanwhile, the North American Society of Vertebral (NASS) is the most reliable society among the vertebral societies and is renowned as a venue for active communication and exchange of the latest knowledge of the world's top scholars in the spine field. It is the world's largest international society with more than 8,000 members, participating in various medical departments such as rehabilitation medicine, radiology, anesthesia pain medicine, and preventive medicine related to the spine as well as neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery. It also publishes The Spine Journal (SCIE), the world's most prestigious official academic journal.
