Professor Kim Hoon-dong of Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital won the Minister of Health and Welfare Award for 'contributing to the improvement of eye health'

Professor Kim Hoon-dong of ophthalmology at Cheonan Hospital affiliated with Soonchunhyang University recently won the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the '2024 Snow Day Ceremony' held in the Garden Five conference room in Seoul.
At an award ceremony marking Snow Day (the second Thursday of October) designated by the World Health Organization (WHO), Professor Kim Hoon-dong was recognized for contributing to the improvement of people's eye health through active participation in government-implemented blindness prevention projects.
Professor Kim, head of the Chungnam branch of the Korea Real Name Prevention Foundation, is actively participating in the free eye examination project for the elderly and pre-school children. This year alone, we visited Chungnam (Yesan, Cheongyang, Seocheon) and Chungbuk (Goesan) every month to conduct eye checkups.
Professor Kim Hoon-dong said, `It was a great reward to be able to provide help to residents in vulnerable areas, but it is an honor to receive the award.' `We will do our best to improve the eye health of local residents in the future."
