Oct 09, 2024

Professor Kim Il-bin of the Department of Mental Health Medicine at Cha Medical University Gangnam Cha Hospital (Director Noh Dong-young) has recently published a research paper on the "Experimental & Molecular Medicine (IF 12.8 points)" in the international renowned academic journal 'Experimental & Molecular Medicine (IF 12.8 points)."

In the study, Professor Kim Il-bin found that somatic mutations in the brain can affect the induction of autism. It was verified that mutations that occur locally only in the brain could act as a key cause of autism. In particular, this study is significant in that it proves autism by assuming that it is a 'cancer' that occurs in the brain.

Professor Kim Il-bin "There have been no previous studies that have proven autism, a mental illness, as 'cancer'. Since the cause of this study was identified by applying the cancer identification methodology to mental illness, we have prepared the basis for introducing a method of setting a specific target as a therapeutic target, such as chemotherapy, into autism treatment in the future."

On the other hand, the Biological Research Information Center is introducing the researcher and the paper by selecting a Korean researcher who published his thesis as the first author or corresponding author on life science in a world-renowned SCI-listed academic journal with more than 10 Impact Factor (IF) as the first author or corresponding author on life science. Professor Kim Il-bin was listed on Hanbitsa Temple three times in 2021, 22, and 24, and has been actively conducting dielectric research on various mental diseases such as dementia and schizophrenia as well as autism diseases. The newly listed paper can be found on the 'Nature' site.
