Professor Kim Jeong-ah of Korea University Anam Hospital wins the Best Story Award of the Korean Diabetes Association

Professor Kim Jeong-ah of the Department of Endocrinology at Korea University Anam Hospital won the Best Original Presentation at the International Conference of the Korean Diabetes Association '2024 KDA Scientific Meeting: 14th International Congress of Diabetes and Metabolism (ICDM2024)' held at Grand Walkerhill, Seoul from October 9 to 11.
Professor Kim Jung-ah became the winner of the award in recognition of the excellence of the research 'Factors associated with rapid decline of kidney function in type 2 diabetes: finds from early bird study'.
Professor Kim Jung-ah drew attention from academia in the presentation of the study, revealing that the use of SGLT-2 inhibitors and the presence or absence of metabolic syndrome, including increased triglycerides, are closely related to the rapid decline of renal function due to diabetic nephropathy.
According to the results of the study, Professor Kim Jung-ah emphasized that even type 2 diabetes patients with normal renal function need to manage blood sugar and metabolic indicators simultaneously through improvement of diet and lifestyle from the beginning along with appropriate drug treatment through expert treatment.
