Professor Shim Jae-jeong of Guro Hospital of Korea University won the 'Limited Tuberculosis and Respiratory Sciences Award'

Shim Jae-jeong, a professor of respiratory and allergy at Korea University Guro Hospital, won the 'limited tuberculosis and respiratory academic award' at the 'Korean Tuberculosis and Respiratory Society' regular general meeting' held on the 25th.
Established in 1979 by Yuhan Corporation and the Korean Society for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, the 'Yuhan Tuberculosis and Respiratory Sciences Award' is an award given to a medical scientist who has contributed to the development of medicine in the respiratory field with outstanding research achievements. It is a prestigious academic award with a 46-year history, and awards plaques, prize money, and medals by selecting winners through a strict screening process every year.
Professor Shim is very happy and grateful to receive the largest award from the Korean Society for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases with 46 years of history and tradition""I joined the Korean Society for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases in 1993, and I am rather grateful to the society because I was able to develop academically through the society."," he said in his acceptance speech.
Professor Shim, one of the leading names in the fields of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, chronic cough, airway disease, and lung cancer, served as the chairman of the Korean Society of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases and the chairman of the Korean Academy of Internal Medicine.
In addition, he won the "2019 Minister of Health and Welfare Award" in recognition of his contribution to the prevention and management of infectious diseases in the country as the project manager of the 「Hospital-based Respiratory Infectious Disease Monitoring System" operation project conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
