Yoon Ji-won, a professor of diagnostic laboratory medicine at Korea University Anam Hospital, won the Excellence Award at the International Conference on Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine (LMCE 2024 & KSLM 65th Annual Meeting) held from September 25 to 27.
Professor Yoon Ji-won presented a story on the theme of 'Reclassification of Myeloid Dysplasia Syndrome according to the latest 2022 diagnostic criteria using open source data and became the main character of this award.
Myeloid dysplasia syndrome is a type of blood cancer characterized by hypocytosis. Diagnostic criteria and detailed classification methods have been updated in 2022, raising the need for research based on the latest diagnostic guidelines. Professor Yoon Ji-won proved the accuracy of the latest diagnostic guidelines using open-source data in this presentation.
Professor Yoon Ji-won confirmed that the 2022 diagnostic criteria can predict patient prognosis more accurately than before when reclassifying patients' diagnostic names by applying the latest diagnostic guidelines""If you actively use the latest diagnostic guidelines when diagnosing myeloid dysplasia syndrome, it will be helpful in treating patients through accurate diagnosis."," he said.
