According to local media such as the Republic, an Air India flight departing from Mumbai, India, to New York, USA, on the 14th (local time) was urgently returned to Delhi after being threatened with an in-flight bombing.
The plane, which landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, had 239 passengers and crew on board.
Delhi police and security authorities are reportedly evacuating passengers and crew to a safe location and searching the interior of the plane.
Earlier, Mumbai Airport received a message on 'X (formerly Twitter)' that a bomb had been installed on the plane. As a result, security authorities ordered the aircraft to be diverted to Delhi.
In this regard, an Air India spokesperson said, "On the 14th, AI119 flying from Mumbai to JFK received a specific security alert and returned to Delhi as directed by the government authorities. All passengers have disembarked and are staying at the terminal of the Delhi airport."
Recently, several airports in India were threatened with bombings, all of which turned out to be fake.
According to local media, a bomb threat was received via email at Devi Ahilia by Holkar International Airport in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on the 5th. The message sender also threatened to detonate explosives at other airports across the country.
On the same day, Badodara Airport in Gujarat also received a bomb threat via e-mail and launched a massive security search.
