The prison sentence was avoided considering the situation of having to give birth to and raise an inmate's child and the lack of a criminal record.
According to foreign media such as The Sydney Morning Herald and The Daily Star, Amber Clavel, 25, who worked as a prison guard at Jeffrey Pierce Prison near Sydney, Australia, has had sex with a man who is being held for armed robbery since early this year. She also hid drugs and cigarettes in her underwear and delivered them.
Clavel, who became pregnant, was arrested by an internal audit after informing her colleague.
Clavel, who admitted most of the charges in the prosecution's investigation, shed tears and regretted his guilt in the ruling on the 9th (local time).
She said she was `disgusted and disappointed' by her actions.
One forensic psychologist described Clavel's relationship with the inmate "emotionally vulnerable in a controlled and isolated space"It seems that she has not been fully trained in the role," he said.
