A woman who was enjoying surfing was stabbed in the chest by swordfish and killed.

According to the Daily Mail and other foreign media, Italian Juliana Manfreeni, 36, was attacked earlier this month by a swordfish that jumped out of the water while surfing on the island of Pulau Masokut near Sumatra, Indonesia. The front part of the swordfish was stabbed to a depth of 5cm in her chest.

Her colleagues were quickly taken to the hospital to provide first aid, but she finally died.

The swordfish has a long cylindrical body, and the snout has a long upper jaw protruding in a spear shape.

Unlike fish species of the bluefin family, it is characterized by no ventral fin. He sometimes jumps over the water while swimming on the surface. Adult swordfish are known to be about 4-5m in size.

Born in Italy, she has been obsessed with surfing and has lived in Sumatra, Indonesia.

It is very rare for swordfish to attack humans.

It is reported that a man was first killed by a swordfish in 2007.

According to the Asian Journal of Surgery, a swordfish jumped up and stabbed him in the right eye when a 39-year-old man who was fishing at night illuminated his torch in the water. The man was killed in this accident.

The journal also said there were no reports of unprovoked swordfish attacks on humans, but there were several reports of injuries to the body and chest in the attacks.
