Cha Hospital announced that it has selected Dr. Jaroslav Slamecka of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) as the 11th recipient of the 'Chae Kwang-ryul Stem Cell Award' at the 80th American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) held at the Hyatt Regency at Colorado Convention Center, Colorado.

Cha Kwang-ryul's stem cell award was established in 2011 after Cha Kyung-ryul, head of the global research institute of Cha Hospital and Bio Group, who developed the world's first in vitro culture method of immature eggs and the world's first rapid egg freezing method, and established the world's first egg bank. The award, the only one established by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine after an Asian name, is given to a researcher who leads innovative research and development in infertility and reproductive medicine.

Dr. Jaroslav Slameka, who was selected as the winner this time, is a cell biologist who studies human pluripotent stem cells in a fully universal and semi-universal state and studies differentiation into somatic and extracorporeal systems. After completing his postdoctoral studies at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Cancer Institute, he worked as a researcher at the NIH National Center for Advancing Sciences and is currently the head of research at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Jaroslav Slameka won the Cha Kwang-ryul Stem Cell Award for his study on the clear contribution of transcription and RNA turnover to transformation from pluripotent stem cells to pure human pluripotent stem cells and differentiation into ectoderms.

The winner, Dr. Jaroslav Slameka, said "It is even more special because it is an award given by someone who has developed standard treatment in the field of ovarian and reproductive medicine and achieved global achievements and achievements. "We will focus on this study to improve our understanding of cell transformation and to model and study the normal biological processes that occur during the development and implantation of human blastocysts more faithfully.", he expressed his feelings.

Starting with the first award of Dr. Erin Wolf and Dr. David Leichman of Cornell University in 2013, the Cha Kwang-ryul Stem Cell Award has been selected 11 times so far this year.
