Onions have been cited as the cause of the recent McDonald's hamburger E. coli food poisoning in the United States.

As a result, other famous fast food chains have also taken measures, including restricting the use of raw onions in their food.

According to local media such as NBC, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said thinly sliced onions in hamburgers are likely sources of food poisoning in McDonald's hamburgers.

McDonald's said the onion supplier is California food company Taylor Farms.

Taylor Farms later announced a recall of four raw onion products. Authorities urged the product to stop being used and dispose of it.

FDA spokesperson says "Taylor Farms is being scrutinized."I'm looking at other possibilities."," he said.

One of the consumers in 10 states who previously ate McDonald's 'Quarter Pounder' hamburger died and 49 were treated.

They showed symptoms of food poisoning due to 'O157:H7 E.coli'.

Most of the victims were found to have eaten quarter-pounder burgers before symptoms occurred.

Most patients are concentrated in Nebraska and Colorado.

As a result, McDonald's has temporarily suspended sales of its Quarter Pounder Burger in several states and is investigating by collecting onions and beef patties used in the burger.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) asked you to visit a medical institution if you have symptoms such as diarrhea, high fever, severe vomiting, dehydration and dizziness.

Other famous fast food chains have also taken measures, including restricting the use of raw onions on their menus.

'Yam Brands', which operates Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC, said it had preemptively removed raw onions from food in some stores for thorough action.

Burger King's operator also explained that Taylor Farms' onions were disposed of and other companies were restocking them.
