In India, a 'fake bank' was built, causing a series of damage to citizens.

According to local media such as Jagran News, a State Bank of India (SBI) branch was recently opened in Chapora, Sakti region, Chhattisgarh, India.

A national bank was opened in a small town, but local officials and account holders did not notice it was a fake branch.

Scammers set up signage and hired villagers as staff to make it look like an actual SBI.

They also delivered fake letters of appointment to six people, including hired managers, cashiers and marketing executives.

The six employees handed 200,000 to 600,000 rupees (about 3.25 million to 9.78 million won) as bribes to fraudsters before hiring.

In addition, all documents used for opening accounts, loans, and collateral were counterfeit.

Residents created accounts and made deposits, while some even deposited their homes or land as collateral for loans.

Their fraud was caught 10 days after the opening of the branch.

A resident who was suspicious of SBI, a large bank, opening a branch in a small town asked the headquarters directly.

Upon receiving the report, the police have so far identified four suspects involved in the fraud and are continuing further investigations.
