According to local media such as VN Express, 20 students from Jiangma Kindergarten in Lai Ziwu Province, Vietnam, were found to have accidentally taken rat poison on the morning of the 4th.
The children are two to three years old, and at around 8:40 a.m. that day, a teacher quickly contacted the local health center after finding that some children had taken rat poison and rushed the children to the hospital.
Fortunately, most of the children regained stability after a few hours and some are still reported to complain of symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea.
Education authorities and medical staff are closely monitoring the children's conditions just in case.
In Vietnam, children often accidentally consume rat medicine.
This is because the rat poison is bright, so children mistake it for candy or pick it up out of curiosity.
Doctors warned that consuming large amounts of rat medication can lead to serious complications such as seizures, arrhythmia, kidney failure, blood clotting disorders, and even death.
Prior to this, in 2021, two boys aged seven and eight living in Dongnai Province took rat poison thinking it was syrup, and the eight-year-old died. In 2020, a 17-month-old baby of Laokais suffered a seizure after eating rice contaminated with rat poison and died in a coma.
