2000 Robotic Surgery at Gachon University Gil Hospital Strengthen High-Difficult Precision Surgery Capabilities

Nov 07, 2024

The Gachon University Gil Medical Center (Hospital Director Kim Woo-kyung) achieved 2,000 high-level robotic surgeries and held a celebration at the entrance of the robotic surgery center on the 7th.Gachon University Gil Hospital opened a robotic surgery center in 2019 with the introduction of the 4th generation's latest robotic surgery machine Da Vinci Xi. Since then, an additional robotic surgical device has been introduced in November last year, enhancing its high-level precision surgery capabilities.

Da Vinci Xi, owned by Gachon University Gil Hospital, is equipped with a variety of functions, including high-definition 3D images and a robot arm that increases precision and rotates freely with a field of view enlarged 10 times compared to existing laparoscopy.

Robotic surgery can reduce wounds, pain, and bleeding with minimal skin incision and perform careful and precise surgery on areas where human hands are difficult to reach. Through this, it is a surgery that shortens the risk of complications and hospitalization period of the patient, and has a positive effect on treatment performance.

Gachon University Gil Hospital performs the most robotic surgery in urology surgery, which requires precise surgery due to its fine body structure. In addition, robotic surgery is being performed in a wide range of fields such as thyroid cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and gynecological diseases, colon disease, and breast cancer.

The robotic surgery center provides patient-specific treatment in the entire process of diagnosis, hospitalization, surgery, recovery, and discharge by professional coordinators in each department.

Kim Woo-kyung, head of Gachon University Gil Hospital, said "We will provide greater satisfaction to patients through the active use of advanced medical devices using advanced technologies, including advanced robotic surgery systems optimized for precise surgery.'
