Alcon, an ophthalmology company, launched personalized vision correction surgery 'PersonalEYES' in Korea and held a press conference to commemorate it.

The domestic registered trademark name "PersonalEYES" is officially named "Wavelight Plus" overseas.

Personal Eyes performs tomography after applying ray-tracing technology to the patient's eyeball through the Sitemap diagnostic equipment during the examination stage. As a result, glasses, contact lenses, or non-customized vision correction can measure and correct even high-level aberrations (miniature and complex refraction abnormalities in the eyes) that are difficult to correct. Based on hundreds of thousands of data points, Personal Eyes implements a 3D virtual eye model by creating an entire optical system such as K value, wavefront (aberration), front and rear corneal surface of the eye, lens thickness, depth and lens position, and intraocular field, which represents the refractive index inside the eye and the curvature of the cornea. In particular, the site map automatically performs a refraction test and collects data, so medical staff do not have to directly enter values such as laser intensity, irradiation amount, and irradiation location. This allows medical staff to efficiently utilize the time required for surgical procedures.

Director of B&B Ophthalmology Ryu Ik-hee said, "Personal Eyes is of great significance in implementing a 3D eye model by precisely analyzing the patient's eyes with an all-in-one inspection equipment called 'SiteMap'. This eliminates data errors or human errors that can occur with complex calculations, helps medical staff simulate surgery, and predicted surgical results are confirmed in actual surgical results. With the launch of Personal Eyes, it is expected to increase the surgical efficiency of medical staff, above all, improve the patient's vision improvement results, and enable ultra-personalized vision correction" he said.

Choi Joon-ho, CEO of Alcon Korea Surgical Division, said, "Personal Eyes provides medical staff with an efficient treatment process and the best consistent surgical environment, and advanced personalized vision correction techniques that show excellent visual improvement effects for patients. Alcon has prioritized its commitment to the bright vision of mankind for the past 75 years, and will continue to do its best to solve major problems in the domestic ophthalmic field." he said.
