It seems that the history of wheel invention will be newly written.

According to the archaeological community, wheels were first used around 4000 BC, not attached to burning means of transportation, but used for spinning wheels used by potters to make earthenware.

In addition, the oldest record of the use of wheeled means was in Mesopotamia around 3500 B.C.

Meanwhile, pebbles with holes in the middle have been discovered at an archaeological site in Israel, drawing attention.

Archaeologists explained that it could be a new key milestone in the development of rotating tools, including wheels.

According to foreign media such as Live Science, researchers at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, have discovered more than 100 circular pebbles with holes in the center, mostly limestone pebbles. It was estimated to have been made about 12,000 years ago.

The researchers believe that stones were used to spin fibers.

After that, it was determined that it would have paved the way for the creation of rotating inventions such as pottery spinning wheels and spinning wheels.

Professor Leore Grossman, who led the research team, said "These perforated stones can actually be seen as the first wheels in terms of shape and function. A round object with a hole in the center and connected to a rotating shaft, it would have been used for transport purposes long before the appearance of the wheel."

The findings were recently published in the journal 『Plos One』.
