According to CBS News and other U.S. media, flames and smoke were seen inside a Southwest Airlines plane at Denver International Airport on the 15th (local time). All 108 passengers on board escaped using emergency slides behind them.
The accident was found to be the first time a flame occurred in a battery of a mobile phone that was being charged.
The fire also spread to the seats, but the crew did not spread as a result of quick response.
One person was slightly injured in the accident, and the owner of the mobile phone was transferred for treatment due to burns on his hands.
The flight reportedly took off about three hours later and arrived at its destination, Houston.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the accident.
