A graffiti that appears to have been painted red by a Chinese tourist has been found in a famous Serbian tourist attraction, causing outrage.

According to Chinese media such as China Dotcom and Cover News, a photo of graffiti written in Chinese was captured on the bell tower of 'Calemegdan Fort' in Belgrade, Serbia's capital.

In Turkic, 'Cale' means a fortress, 'Megdan' means a battlefield. The fortress was first constructed around 535 AD during the Eastern Roman Empire. Subsequently, it was reinforced under the rule of the Ottoman Empire and Austria.

Currently, exhibition halls and museums are built everywhere, and large parks are located, making it a historical site visited by millions of tourists annually.

In the released photo, the address and name of the SNS account are written in red paint at the bottom of the white bell tower.

Chinese netizens criticized that `it is certain that the person who wrote the letter is Chinese.' `Do not be embarrassed abroad.'

The Chinese, who is believed to have actually scribbled, reportedly posted photos on his SNS and closed his account after controversy arose.

The graffiti is said to have been deleted by officials who have received the report.

The Chinese embassy in Serbia told its citizens to `travel Serbia in a civilized manner' and that `you must not spray, carve, climb, or touch historical relics or you may violate local laws or face fines" he warned.
