A funeral company in Japan is making headlines for running a cafe where customers can lie in a coffin and experience the afterlife virtually.

According to the Japanese media Mainichi Shimbun, a 120-year-old funeral company based in Chiba Prefecture recently opened 'Cabinet Experience Cafe'.

There are three coffins here, and people who choose to experience can enter the coffin and have unlimited time and take pictures freely.



The experience cost is 2,200 yen (about 20,000 won) per person and is operated by reservation.

The company said "We have received about 20 advance reservations, mostly young people."



The company representative said "I want people to have a vivid experience, take pictures, and enjoy it, but I recommend people who are depressed or hit a wall in their lives to have a go at least once."

He also witnessed people who had experienced "look back on their lives while in the coffin and come out in a better mood."I want you to feel like you can start your life anew by coming out of the "view"," he added.



In response to the criticism that some"gwan is a taboo subject" and"offending experience" the company representative explained"as a result of thinking about what we can do as a funeral company
