A Chinese man was found falsely claiming to have received about 35 billion won worth of birthday gifts from his grandmother.

According to the South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong media outlet, a man named Tian recently posted photos of luxury cars, jewelry and antiques on his account on the Chinese version of TikTok 'Tian', and posted that his grandmother gave him 180 million yuan (about 35 billion won) worth of gifts on his 20th birthday.

When netizens did not believe this, he posted a screenshot of his bank account. The balance was marked at 2.4 billion yuan (about 466 billion won). He also shared letters of appointment of senior family members, believed to have been issued by the Chinese State Council (administration), and old group photos of military officials, suggesting that relatives are high-ranking.

Police cyber investigation teams in China's Guizhou province arrested the man on charges of photo manipulation and public order violations.

Police said the man manipulated his property and posted forged photos to gain followers and profit from online gambling. He is also accused of online gambling.
