Gyeongsang National University Hospital, 'Evaluation of Outpatient Appropriateness for Depression' Earned Grade 1

Gyeongsang National University Hospital (Hospital Director Ahn Sung-ki) announced on the 14th that it has obtained the first grade, the only top grade among advanced general hospitals in Gyeongnam, in the results of the 2023 (2nd) depression outpatient adequacy evaluation published by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
Depression is a mental illness with various symptoms that can interfere with daily life, such as depression or decreased motivation, and one in four Koreans experience mental health problems at least once in their lives, but only 22.2% of them use mental health services.
Accordingly, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service conducted a secondary depression outpatient adequacy assessment to improve access and quality of outpatient medical services for depressive patients.
The assessment consisted of four evaluation indicators, including ▲ the rate of revisiting within three weeks of the first visit to new outpatients aged 18 or older who were treated for depression from January to June 2023, ▲ the rate of revisiting more than three times within eight weeks of the first visit ▲ the rate of initial assessment of depression ▲ the rate of re-evaluation of depression symptoms, and ▲ the rate of prescription duration for more than 84 days of antidepressants ▲ the rate of prescription duration for more than 180 days of antidepressants.
Lee So-jin, head of the Department of Mental Health Medicine at Gyeongsang National University Hospital, said "In this depression outpatient adequacy evaluation result, we proved the excellence of our hospital's depression treatment by obtaining the first grade among the upper general hospitals in Gyeongnam."We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of life through appropriate early treatment for local residents suffering from depression."."
