After the ceremony to mark the 6th anniversary of the opening of the Sharjah Strong Joint and Spine Center on the 5th, center and hospital officials gather to take commemorative photos.

Himchan Hospital held an event to celebrate the opening of the Himchan Joint and Spine Center and Bukhara Himchan Hospital, which entered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Uzbekistan, respectively.

Lee Soo-chan, CEO of Himchan Hospital, and Park Hye-young, chairman of the Sangwon Medical Foundation, visited the Himchan Joint and Spine Center (hereinafter referred to as the Sharjah Himchan Joint and Spine Center) and Bukhara Himchan Hospital from the 4th to the 8th to attend the opening ceremony and examine the status of the hospital.

On the 5th, to mark the 6th anniversary of the opening of the Sharjah Himchan Joint and Spine Center, the ceremony was held in the auditorium of Sharjah University Hospital with more than 70 officials from the center and hospital, including Lee Soo-chan, CEO of the Sharjah Himchan Medical Foundation, Park Seung-joon, Director of the Sharjah Himchan Joint and Spine Center, Abdelaziz Said Al Meheri, CEO of Sharjah University Hospital, and Khalifa Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Saman Al-Nouaimi, CEO of Sharjah University Hospital.

The Sharjah Himchan Joint and Spine Center was opened in the form of a floor member at Sharjah University Hospital in November of the same year after signing a memorandum of mutual agreement in June 2018. At that time, it was evaluated that it was the first hospital-level to establish a new overseas expansion model by applying the hospital brand name and applying the Himchan Hospital system to operate independently.

Within five months of the start of treatment, the cumulative number of outpatients exceeded 3,000, recording the largest number of procedures and operations among centers in the hospital, and starting smoothly in 2020, exceeding 21,000 outpatients. As of October 2024, it achieved 72,000 cumulative outpatients, 2,200 operations, and 105,750 physical treatments, achieving great growth in a short period of time.

As the center grew, the number of employees also increased significantly. At the time of its opening, there were only five Korean employees and three local employees, including two specialists, but now a total of 39 people are leading the center, including five specialists, 20 Korean employees and 19 local employees.

In particular, Park Seung-joon, head of the Sharjah Himchan Joint and Spine Center, is attracting attention from the local medical community by introducing new medical technologies such as allogeneic cartilage transplantation and artificial foot fracture replacement for the first time in the United Arab Emirates.

Park Seung-joon, head of the center, said, `The average number of surgeries at the center is about 350 cases, and the average number of physical treatments over the past two years is about 40,000, attracting so much attention that patients wait for one to two months to receive physical therapy. We are grateful to the staff who have worked hard together, including doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and administrative staff."

Park Hye-young, chairman of the Senate Medical Foundation, said "The center's steps, which were taken small six years ago, are now creating a fairly large path with the support of Sharjah University Hospital and the efforts of the center's staff. We will actively contribute to the greater leap forward of the Sharjah Strong Joint and Spine Center in the future, he said.

On the 7th, a ceremony was held at the Himchan Hospital in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, to mark the 5th anniversary of the opening. Lee Soo-chan, CEO of Himchan Hospital, and Park Hye-young, chairman of the Sangwon Medical Foundation, also attended and shone. Park Seung-joon, director of the Himchan Joint and Spine Center at Sharjah University Hospital, and the family of former Governor Barnoev, who actively supported the hospital's opening, also attended.

On the day of the opening, various programs were also held for hospital executives and employees, including holding a Korean speaking contest for employees who have worked for more than a year and giving thank-you gifts to those who have worked for five years.

Also, on the same day, Bukhara Himchan Hospital signed an MOU with Oshio International University to transfer medical technology and cultivate medical professionals.

Oshio International University is a private international university with 20 bachelor's programs and seven master's programs, including majors in dentistry, medicine, and pharmacy. Through this memorandum of understanding, the two organizations plan to work closely for mutual development.

CEO Lee Soo-chan said in a commemorative speech that it was difficult to open the hospital, but it was difficult to operate normally due to the COVID-19 that occurred as soon as it opened in November 2019. However, with the help of many people, I express my gratitude for being able to settle down like this. We will continue to make efforts to successfully lead Bukhara Himchan Hospital to publicize the excellence of K-medical care and contribute to revitalizing exchanges between the two countries."

Meanwhile, Bukhara Himchan Hospital is actively introducing and implementing spinal non-surgical treatment in the region, where most spinal surgery is performed. After introducing the first Latz neuroplasty in Uzbekistan in May, a total of 228 cases of neuromuscular block surgery and neuroplasty, which are non-surgical treatments in the spine, were performed by October 2024. As a result of a survey of patients with the procedure based on items such as pain after the procedure and the degree of daily life performance, about 88% (200 patients) improved, indicating that local patients are highly satisfied.
