The Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jung Ki-hwan) signed a research agreement with Smart Sound Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Jung-ho) at the Seoul Horse Health Center in Let's Run Park on November 1st to develop an AI smart stethoscope for horse treatment.

Jeon Hyung-sun, the head of horse health at the Korea Racing Authority, and Lee Jung-ho, head of the smart sound, attended the signing ceremony. Through this business agreement, the two organizations promised mutual cooperation, including clinical research and product development, to research and develop smart stethoscopes for horse treatment.

Smart Sound is a healthcare solution digital company with technology that collects the heart and lung sounds of the human body with a stethoscope and analyzes the collected data with artificial intelligence, and currently develops and has an artificial intelligence stethoscope that can be used not only for human but also for animal medical care. Smart Sound is developing an artificial intelligence stethoscope for horse treatment that can be applied to the horse industry through collaboration with the horse society. The stethoscope will be used to detect problems early and guide the veterinarian by measuring the bowel tone and heart rate when the horse shows symptoms of 's colic'.

In horse care, 'pain' refers to all kinds of abdominal pain and is a symptom that may threaten the life of a horse depending on the situation. Therefore, identifying this symptom early and transferring it to the hospital in a timely manner is very helpful in increasing the survival rate of horses.

SmartSound has been developing AI diagnostic technology and healthcare solutions through collecting various heart and lung sound data for 13 years since its establishment. In the case of horses, it was difficult to collect such clinical data, but since 2023, they have been working with veterinarians at the Korean Horse Association's Horse Health Department to develop technologies that can be applied to horse clinical trials.

Through this research agreement, the Korea Racing Authority and Smart Sound plan to collect and analyze horse clinical data, develop AI diagnostic models, conduct hardware/software research for smart stethoscope prototypes, and discuss product development directions.
