A man in China intentionally caused a traffic accident and died when his airbags did not work while trying to get insurance money.

According to Chinese media such as China Dotcom, a strange traffic accident occurred in the Tungbai area of Henan Province in February this year.

The SUV collided head-on with the street trees and there were no brake marks. I didn't even turn the wheel to avoid it. Also, the driver, identified only by his surname Yoo, died at the scene because the airbag did not inflate. The cause of death was a neck fracture from impact.

The police received a phone call at the time, and the caller was the cousin of the dead driver.

The police, who felt suspicious of their actions, found out that it was a crime aimed at insurance money after a long investigation.

According to the police, the driver Yoo decided to conspire with his cousin and an acquaintance of a mechanic to cause an intentional accident and claim insurance money. When Yoo collided with the vehicle, his cousin and acquaintance followed him and reported the accident, and the vehicle was sent to their maintenance shop for repairs, and Yoo was hospitalized and charged for treatment.

However, the airbag did not work, and the driver, Yoo, died, failing to achieve his purpose as he had intended.

They were found to have defrauded insurance money of more than 900,000 yuan (about 170 million won) by causing several intentional accidents before.

Police have arrested cousins and acquaintances and are investigating other criminal links.
