Nov 12, 2024
The Korean Academy of Supportive Care in Cancer (KASCC) will hold 'Best of MASCC 2024 in Korea' at Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas (Samsung-dong) on November 16.
The event, which marks its third anniversary, is a program in which oncology and palliative care experts train in Korean for domestic medical staff and related field workers by summarizing key and important contents among the latest studies presented at the World Cancer Relief and Support Medical Association's Annual Meeting (MASCC) held in Lille, France from June 27 to 29. It will be held in Korea every year since the signing of the KASCC-MASCC MOU in 2022.
Best of MASCC in Korea will be held in a total of five sessions. The first session introduces the latest guidelines, and the second session is a research session that summarizes important research results published at the MASCC Annual Meeting from a multidisciplinary perspective and is held in cooperation with the Korean Society of Oncology, the Korean Society of Mental Oncology, and the Korean Society of Cancer Rehabilitation. With the support of Pambio Korea, the Luncheon Symposium introduces optimal cancer pain management methods through novel fentanyl preparations.
In the afternoon, among the latest announcements at MASCC's parallel session, the optimal prevention strategies for homecare, prevention of burnout of medical staff, and febrile neutropenia are summarized, and Florian Scotte (Gustav Lucy Cancer Center, professor of oncology at the University of Paris-Sackle) will give a lecture on the latest knowledge on the toxicity of chemotherapy at the keynote session.
Chairman Kang Jeong-hoon (Professor of Hematologic Oncology at Kyungsang National University Hospital) of the Korean Society of Cancer Mitigation and Supportive Medical Research (KASCC) said, `As important as treatment for prolonging the life of cancer patients is to restore the deteriorated quality of life due to disease and treatment. KASCC is deeply aware of this need for the times and will do its best to play a leading role in achieving that goal" he said.
