Cha Medical University (President Lim Sang-tae), which trains world-class medical scientists as the only medical center in Korea, will create a future campus that will become a new landmark in Pocheon City.
The plan is to build a high-tech complex with classrooms and laboratory dormitories, and to implement a 'Univer-City' that allows universities and cities to develop co-prosperity.
At the 27th anniversary of the school's opening ceremony, President Lee Myung-tae said, `In order to respond to the changing educational environment and cultivate creative talents, innovation in space, environment, and cooperation with local communities must be achieved together," he said, explaining the background of the project.
The complex will be built with four floors above ground, two floors below ground, and a total floor area of 9917㎡. Large classrooms, practice rooms, state-of-the-art research institutes and research labs will be built, and dormitories that can accommodate more than 160 people will be built. It will create a nature-friendly rest area by creating ponds and benches, and also build book cafes and fitness centers to improve the welfare of students. Cha Medical University expects this project to foster world-class medical scientists, expand the university's extension to the region, and transform it into a futuristic campus that has become an educational landmark in Pocheon City.
Pocheon Mayor Baek Young-hyun said at the ceremony that `The Cha Medical University contributed greatly to Pocheon City being selected as a pilot district for this year's Special Education Development Zone' and `Let's use this construction plan as a stepping stone to make our region the best educational city in the country.'
President Dim Dong-tae said, "Construction of complex facilities means that universities lead regional growth and serve as innovative growth bases in the region through the realization of the 'Universal-City' rather than just building buildings"I will work closely with Pocheon City to lead a new regional leap forward and set a good precedent for joint innovation between the region and universities."," he said.
The complex facility construction project is worth about 50 billion won and is expected to start construction in 2025 and be completed in May 2027. Cha Medical University, which has the only medical graduate school in Korea, is expected to work harder to cultivate medical science-specific talents through this project and establish itself as a cradle for global talent development.
