According to local media, including the Hindustan Times, Sabarish, a 32-year-old man in Bengaluru, India, accepted a bet from his colleagues to sit on a box of firecrackers.
My colleagues promised to give me a small three-wheeler 'auto-rickshaw' in return.
Later, one person lit a firecracker box as he sat down.
The colleagues immediately moved away from the box, but Sabarish sat firmly.
The box exploded with a loud explosion, and he fell to the ground. I tried to get up in the thick smoke, but I collapsed again and didn't move.
Colleagues rushed to check on him and took him to the hospital, but he died during treatment.
His hips, abdomen and thighs were badly burned.
Police arrested six people between the ages of 18 and 22 in connection with the case and charged them with manslaughter.
Police said the dead Sabarish had been drinking alcohol before making the bet.
