Professor Ahn Se-joong of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Korea University Ansan Hospital recently won the 2024 Korea Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Association Young Researcher Award at the General Assembly of the Korean Emergency Medical Association held at the Grand Ballroom of Songdo Convensia, Incheon.
The Korea Cardiopulmonary resuscitation Association annually awards young researchers to emergency medical specialists under the age of 40 or within 10 years of obtaining specialist qualifications by evaluating the diagnosis and treatment of acute cardiac arrest patients, including traumatic cardiac arrest, and research results related to resuscitation medicine.
Professor Ahn was honored by publishing a thesis titled 「Study on the association between pre-hospital (pre-hospital) specialized technology and survival results of epinephrine use in cardiac arrest patients outside the hospital」.
In this study, Professor Ahn analyzed patients with cardiac arrest outside the hospital in Korea according to how professional technology and epinephrine administration performed in the pre-hospital stage affected patient survival and the length of stay at the site.
As a result, it was confirmed that in certain situations, only basic CPR performance can have a more positive effect on survival rates. In particular, it was suggested that the necessary treatment should be attempted rather than completely completing all treatment, but whether it is completed or not, the time of stay on site should be minimized and transferred quickly for professional resuscitation, and the need to prepare specific guidelines tailored to the detailed situation was emphasized.
Professor Ahn said, `It is a great honor to be highly recognized for the research results of resuscitation medicine, including diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute cardiac arrest.' `We will continue our meaningful research in the field of resuscitation medicine and do our best to explore better treatment and treatment methods," he said.
