Professor Choi Sung-il of Gangdong Kyunghee University Hospital, President of the Korean Society of Hernia, will serve until October 2026

Professor Sung-il Choi of gastrointestinal surgery at Gangdong Kyunghee University Hospital was inaugurated as the president of the Korean Hernia Association. The term of office is from November 2024 to October 2026. Launched in 2006, the Korean Society of Hernia is a branch society of the Korean Society of Surgeons, which studies various clinical cases and the latest medical technologies for hernia and hernia surgery. Various activities are underway, such as establishing and standardizing guidelines for surgery and holding international symposiums.

Professor Choi Sung-il is an authority on gastrointestinal surgery such as gastric cancer, obesity metabolism, and hernia surgery, and graduated from Kyung Hee University Medical School and received a master's and a doctorate from the same graduate school. He trained at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in the United States and serves as a permanent director of the Korean Society of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery, a director of the Korean Society of Gastric Cancer, a general director of the Korean Society of Hernia, and a permanent director of the Korean Society of Endoscopic Laparoscopy. He is a professor of surgery at Gangdong Kyunghee University Hospital and serves as the director of surgery, the director of the surgery department, the director of the robotic surgery center, and the director of the Ministry of Planning and Coordination.
