Professor Kim Sang-wook of Chung-Ang University Kwangmyong Hospital, chairman of the Korea Interventional Medical Device Association

Kim Sang-wook, director of the Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital Cardio-cerebrovascular Hospital, was elected as the new chairman at the regular council meeting of the Korean Interventional Medical Device Association. The term of office is two years from December 1 this year.
After graduating from Chung-Ang Medical University, Kim Sang-wook, the new chairman of Chung-Ang University Medical School's Circulatory System Division, Chung-Ang University Hospital's Cardiovascular Center, Cardiovascular Research Institute, Director of the Korean Heart Association, Medical Guidelines Committee, Director of the Society of Cardiovascular Intervention, Academic Director of the Society, Chairman of the Liver Association, and Chairman of the International Society. He played a pivotal role in systematizing the guidelines while serving as the director of the Korean Heart Association's guidelines. In addition, various domestic and international conferences have been conducting research and lectures on precision cardiovascular procedures using intravascular ultrasound and light interferometry, and have been active in various fields, including winning the Excellence Researcher Award at the Korean Heart Association and the Washington Heart Center in the United States.
The Korean Association of Interventional Medical Devices launched the Korea Stent Research Association in 2012 by gathering meaningful medical scientists to study and localize high value-added medical devices, including vascular and non-vascular stents. It made a significant contribution to the localization of stents that relied on imports, and in 2017, the name of the society was revised to the Korean Interventional Medical Device Association. It is the largest multidisciplinary convergence society in Korea, consisting of about 1,000 professional researchers in engineering, basic, clinical medicine, and industries.
With the efforts of the Korean Association of Interventional Medical Devices and the industry, excellent domestic non-vascular stent products dominate the world, and domestic drug-releasing vascular balloons, drug-releasing vascular stents, and innovative hemostatic powder are developed and used in clinical settings and exported abroad. It also provides educational opportunities for internationalization and developing countries through active international exchanges.
Chairman Kim Sang-wook said, `We are facing a difficult time of medical crisis, but in the 4th industrial era, the importance of our society has been further highlighted by the development of bio-related technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovative development of medical devices"We will do our best to ensure that Korea's excellent medical devices become high-end medical devices in the world." he expressed his ambition.
