The Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Chung Ki-hwan) announced on the 13th that it has introduced and started utilizing the 「AI Horse Racing Review System" that combines AI technology for horse racing implementation.

The project, which was launched to conduct more accurate race deliberation by applying AI technology, which has been actively used in sports events, is expected to be able to actively meet the government's digital innovation stance and horse racing fans' expectations for fairness.

The pilot AI technology can detect the movements of riders using computer vision technology and accurately analyze the number of whips used by each rider on the finish line straight line to select riders who exceed the whip use standard.

The AI technology development was carried out in collaboration with a domestic company 'Triplet' and the Korean Horse Association, and it is attracting attention from the global horse racing world, with advanced overseas horse racing countries such as the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HJJC).

An official from the Korea Racing Authority said, "The Gyeongju deliberation site needs to change quickly in line with the ever-developing technology. As we introduced AI technology for the first time in the world, we will try to contribute to expanding the base of advanced technology for the advancement and utilization of Korean racing."

The Korea Racing Authority expects AI to be in charge of the factors that were previously judged with the naked eye to increase the efficiency of the Gyeongju review, and the judges will focus on areas that require high situational awareness and judgment to further enhance the fairness and accuracy of the review.
