According to foreign media such as Daily Star, flames and smoke were seen in the engine of a Spanish low-cost airline 'Bueling Air' that was about to take off from El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Spain on the 8th (local time).
The plane stopped on the runway and passengers and crew were quickly evacuated. No one was reported injured.
According to passengers, the fire did not spread further, but smoke poured out for a while.
An airline spokesman said "Just before takeoff, a technical issue caused the fire and smoke," he explained, declining to elaborate further.
Passengers headed to their destination Granada a few hours later on an alternative flight.
Air traffic authorities and airlines are investigating to determine the cause.
