According to India Today and other local media, a car crashed 15 meters below an unfinished bridge in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district on the night of the 23rd (local time).
Three men were in a vehicle that fell into a river that was not deep, and all were found dead.
Those who left Gurugram, Haryana, reportedly set out on the road to attend an acquaintance's wedding in Bareilly.
The accident occurred late at night and the vehicle was found late because it was outside.
At around 9:30 a.m. the next day, local residents found a vehicle that fell into the Ramgang River under the bridge and reported it to the police.
Police moved three bodies and inspected the interior. According to an investigation of the mobile phones of victims aged 30 to 35, they were using Google Maps at the time of the accident.
However, Google Maps was found to have guided the way with an incomplete bridge.
The bridge was undergoing renovation because its road was cut off by floodwaters a few months ago.
However, the unfinished bridge was open without warning signs or barricades.
Google offered condolences to the families of the victims.
"We are working closely with the authorities investigating the matter and providing support," a Google official said" he said.
The bereaved families are holding local authorities accountable.
Why didn't they install barricades or warnings on the unfinished bridge?" and asked to audit the construction department suspected of negligence.
