According to foreign media such as the Daily Mail, the Danish Navy announced on the 20th (local time) that it was tracking a Chinese cargo ship in the Baltic Sea.
The move comes a day after Finland and Sweden opened an investigation into two severed undersea communications cables.
Denmark's defence ministry declined to comment further, saying "Our warship is in the area near the Chinese ship Yi Feng3".
The cargo ship, built in 2001 and owned by Chinese company Ningbo Yifeng Shipping, was found to have been stopped in the Kathegat Strait between Denmark and southwest Sweden from the 17th to the 18th, according to ship tracking site Marinetetraffic. However, there were other ships nearby.
According to VesselFinder, a specialized site, Yifeng 3 is operating from the port of Oostruga, west of St. Petersburg, Russia, on November 15.
On the news of the submarine communication cable cut, the German defense minister said "No one believes these cables were cut off by accident"
Finland and Sweden also suspected terrorism.
"At a time when our European security is threatened not only by Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine but also by hybrid warfare by malicious actors," they said, stressing that it is important to protect key infrastructure.
