◇Suspect 'Goose foot dryitis' if it hurts when bending your knees straight
The goose foot gun is located in the inner part of the knee, and it is a tendon made up of three muscles, including the bony muscle, the bacillus muscle, and the half tendon muscle, and it is named the goose foot because it looks like a goose foot. Pain usually occurs when the knee is stretched and bent, and inflammation occurs due to continuous friction between the inner ligament and the goose foot tendon at this time is called goose foot tendonitis.
"Most goose foot tendonitis is caused by trauma, and excessive knee use is the main cause," said Kim Tae-ho, head of the joint center at Incheon Nanuri Hospital. "It is characterized by pain or heat inside the knee at the location, severe pain when exercising or climbing stairs, and pain even when resting if the symptoms are severe."
For goose foot tendonitis, non-surgical treatment such as cold compress, anti-inflammatory analgesics, and nonsteroidal injection treatment is performed first to check the improvement of symptoms. However, if it is caused by infection or symptoms do not improve, surgical treatment may be required.
◇ Suspected fracture if the inside of the knee hurts when hitting the ground
One of the causes of pain in the inside of the knee may be suspected of fracture. Even with healthy bones, fractures can occur due to repeated stimuli, which is called a stress fracture. Fractures can occur mainly due to repeated use, or subvertebral fractures can occur easily due to weak bones due to osteoporosis.
Fractures also choose cast treatment and surgical treatment depending on their condition, and if the fracture site is not distorted and is well maintained, cast treatment is performed rather than surgery. However, even if the fracture site is twisted by only 1 mm, additional intra-articular fractures can occur, so surgical treatment is required in this case.
◇Suspected damage to meniscus cartilage if pain occurs during weight loading
The meniscus cartilage is a tissue that acts as a cushion between the femur and tibia, and pain is mainly caused by weight load. Among them, the size of the damage is greater due to extreme and high-intensity exercise, which can lead to rupture with the sound of 'puck' because it cannot overcome impact and external force during a sudden change of direction.
Treatment of meniscus cartilage damage can improve symptoms with medication, physical therapy, or rehabilitation exercises, but in the case of unstable cartilage plate damage that is more likely to rupture and tear more, surgery may be necessary.
Director Kim Tae-ho advised, "The meniscus cartilage absorbs pressure or shock between the bones of the knee joint, and weight control is also an important factor in protecting the knee joint because the weight of the knee is greater when overweight. If proper treatment is not taken, it can lead to degenerative arthritis, so caution is needed."
