It was auctioned about 20 years after Judy Garland wore it in the movie "The Wizard of Oz" and the famous "Ruby Shoes" were stolen.

Judy Garland's 'Ruby Shoes' auction will run online through Dec. 7, according to U.S. media CBS and auction house Heritage Auction.

These shoes were worn by Dorothy, the main character of the `Wizard of Oz' and were important props that took her anywhere she wanted to go after hitting her back hooves three times in the movie.

The shoes were owned by Michael Shaw, a souvenir collector, and were stolen shortly after they were loaned to the Judy Garland Museum in Minnesota for display in 2005. The shoes that someone took after breaking the display case were insured for $1 million (about 1.37 billion won) in compensation at the time. Since then, the whereabouts have remained unknown, and the FBI successfully recovered them in 2018.

Terry John Martin, who stole the shoes, said, `I broke the glass in the museum door and the display case with the hammer,' `I wanted to give the 'last score' to end my long criminal life.'", he reportedly stated.

Heritage Auction expected the shoes to be sold for more than $3.5 million (about 4.8 billion won).
