A surgical gauze was found in the body of a Japanese woman in her 70s, shocking her.

According to Japanese media, including NHK, a woman in her 70s who underwent surgery in August this year at a general hospital in Moriyama, Shiga Prefecture, later suffered severe abdominal pain.

Recently, after visiting the hospital again for an examination, a foreign substance the size of a golf ball was found in the stomach.



He underwent emergency removal surgery, and the foreign body was about 30 cm long surgical gauze.

The hospital, which performed the surgery, held a press conference on the 22nd and admitted its mistake.



The hospital's medical staff bowed their heads, saying, `We miscalculated the number of gauze used before and after the surgery, and two doctors checked with X-rays to see if the instrument remained on the body, but they did not notice it.'

The hospital's chief executive said "We sincerely apologize for the medical incidents that should not happen, and we will work to prevent a recurrence."
