According to foreign media such as Fox News and Daily Star, a video of four police officers and a ball-shaped robot patrolling an entertainment district in Hangzhou, China, was recently released online.
The circular robot's exterior is surrounded by tires and is said to be equipped with various sensors, cameras, and defense weapons inside.
The robot manufacturer is China's 'Logon Technology'.
The company explained that it is an RT-G autonomous spherical robot model and is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI)."
The robot can operate on both land and water and can travel up to 35km/h per hour. It can also withstand up to four tons of impact damage.
The way it works can use facial recognition software to identify wanted persons or suspects, chase them down, and fire net guns to prevent them from moving.
It can also detect ambient abnormalities and operate tear gas sprayers, loudspeakers, and sonic dispersors.
The company said the robot was designed to help or replace humans in dangerous environments. "We will continue our research to help create a safe society."
