According to local media such as Weirdkaya, parents living in Klantan, Malaysia, visited the hospital after seeing blood on their 16-month-old daughter's diapers.
Tests showed bleeding in the genital organs, which was caused by leeches.
The medical staff, who did not find any wounds or trauma in the initial visual examination, found a leech that was attached to the inside of the child's genital organs and moved.
After removing the leech, the medical staff said "When I interviewed my parents, I heard that my child recently played in a flooded neighborhood without diapers," he said.
The doctor said the leech is believed to have entered the child's genital organs playing in the water.
"Flooded areas are likely to be infected with parasites as well as waterborne infectious diseases. "Parents should be careful not to let young children play in such places," he said.
