60th Anniversary of Establishment of Chung-Ang University Photography Department 'Korea Photography Education and Discussion History Exhibition'

A special exhibition will be held to see Korea's photography culture and the flow of photography education at a glance through rare data.
Chung-Ang University's photography department announced on the 3rd that it will hold a special exhibition 'Korea's Photographic Education and Discussion History Exhibition' at Chung-Ang University's Youngshin Hall CCP Photo Book Lounge (Jung-Ang University Campus, Heukseok-dong, Seoul).
This exhibition will be a venue where you can see the history of modern and contemporary photography education at a glance, from the 19th century to the present day, when photography, a new Western culture, entered Korea.
Materials of high historical value, such as photographic journals 'Photo Culture' first published after liberation, various technical and theoretical books used as photographic textbooks, and exhibition books containing the expandability of the modern photographic trend since the 1990s, will also be displayed.
In particular, the exhibition of historical materials refers to photography pioneer Ji Un-yeong's 『Hyangchugwan』, Shin Nak-kyun's 『Sajinhak Lecture" and Park Pil-ho's" photos' Rare copies with high historical significance, such as those, are also on display, drawing attention.
The exhibition was organized by Professor Park Joo-seok of Myongji University's Graduate School of Recording and Information Sciences, who has led the research and archive of Korean photography history. Professor Park said, "It was designed to reflect on the 60th anniversary of the beginning of photography education at Korean universities and to examine their achievements."The purpose of the exhibition was revealed.
The exhibition, which re-examines the development process of Korean photography culture and the flow of photography education and discourse, will begin on December 7 and continue for about four months until March 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, Chung-Ang University's photography department is the first photography department in Korea to discover numerous talents and has a profound influence on the popularization of photography and the development of photography culture.
