A third-year elementary school student who saved a classmate with a grape stuck in his neck has emerged as a "little hero" in the region.

Thomas Conley (8, male), a third grader at Porter Elementary School in Mesa, Arizona, heard a strange sound while eating at a school cafeteria on the 14th (local time), according to NBC 12 News.

Nearby, fellow student Isaiah Rodriguez got caught in his throat while eating grapes served as meals.

Isaiah was in a situation where he couldn't breathe with a sound of 'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

At this time, Thomas ran and implemented the airway obstruction treatment 'Haimrich Act' to save his friend's life.

The Heimlich method is a first-aid method that puts strong pressure on the chest to vomit when there is a risk of airway obstruction or suffocation due to food or foreign substances.

He described the situation at the time as "I did the Heimlich method I had learned before because I didn't want my friend to die."

After learning about this, the teacher and Isaiah's mother sighed with shock and relief.

It was a particularly dizzying moment for Cathy Ray, the principal of Porter Elementary School, who watched the CCTV footage.

Seven years ago, a student died of suffocation while eating there in the same month.

She said "I kept watching the video, and it was amazing. I appreciate Thomas' quick response."

Subsequently, the local fire brigade recently visited the school, awarding Thomas a letter of appreciation for 'heroic conduct'.

In this place, Thomas should not be afraid to help anyone" was applauded once again for his acceptance speech.

※How to enforce the Heimrich Act

- Wrap the waist with both arms behind the patient's back

-Cover your left fist with your right hand and place it on the patient's solar plexus

-Push it up quickly

-Continue until foreign substances come out or the patient loses consciousness

-Pregnant women or obese patients compress the chest, not the upper abdomen.
